Hello...Im down to 30 m of pred and been doing good for a week (besides loose stools) Then BAM yesterday diareah all day!  This morning i was awoken to diareah again and this last time there was a little blood!  I kinda feel like i might have a stomache bug.  I am a secretary at an elementary school and there is a bug going around.  Do you think the blood could have returned due to being aggrevated?  Probably not completed healed from flare?  Any advice?  I do  have a Dr apt today for a followup so I will discuss it with the Doc.  Thanks for your thoughts..

A few years ago, I was in remission when my daughter came down with a stomach bug. And lucky me got it too. After I got it, my UC went into a tailspin and I flared again. It's good that you're going to the docs. But yes, the flu, a cold, intestinal virus etc can set off a flare or aggravate your Uc.

Ya cuz 30mg of pred is still pretty high so I'd hate for it to be because of the tappering...keep in mind it has been known to happen...for me it's easy to tell the difference between my IBD and a stomach bug, maybe because I've had my IBD for 16 yrs without any full remission.

Hi Lori,

Trying to get out of this flare has taken me longer than all my others so far and I have experienced diareah a couple of times (mostly recently) and ups and downs of good days and not so good days, though slowly the not so good days are getting better and further apart.

I'd like to say Colitis is like a box of chocolate's you never know what you are going to get but that sounds kind of gross (and it makes me laugh) so I say it anyway. Anyhoo, I hope you get out of this flare quickly.

I haven't taken steriods so I don't know the ups and downs of coming out of a flare.

All my best,
Beth
