A while back someone posted that they took a supplement for the dreaded moon face.  I have tried looking thru previous post but can't find it. Does anyone remember what the supplement was? Many thanks!

Eat a lower sodium diet, drink more water and get more exercise.

There's also a great book you may want to check out: Coping With Prednisone: It May Work Miracles, but How Do You Handle the Side Effects?

I don't believe there is a supplement that will take it away. It's just a rotten side effect. Some people have luck with a lower sodium diet and lots of water. I ended up with moon face no matter what I did. It did start "deflating" within a couple of weeks of stopping the pred - however, I was on pred for months. After about two months, I was very pleased to see MY face again.

Best of luck!

I hate the moon face. I think I have it really bad right now, but people tell me my face looks healthy. I think I look like a fat chipmunk. I can't wait for it to go away!

We always notice more things wrong with our appearance than others do. I've known a lot of folks to take prednisone and seen some of their faces get a little "moonier" but it's never as bad as they think it is. I wouldn't worry over it.

don't want to jinx myself but I have not gotten it yet. A little bit of puffiness some mornings around my eyes (but could be the pred making cry the night before). I am on a 1500mg a day low sodium diet and it's not that bad to follow also I have given up all caffeine (prob. nothing to do w/it) and have given up soda as well (maybe? about 300mgs of sodium I am not having anymore). I still have edema though, could be from the MCD??? I do feel puffy but have lost 4 pounds since starting the pred - not eating salt has cut down my fav foods like chips, plus have had diarreah for two weeks.

There was a teenage girl that had some pictures of her moonface in a photo album.
I can't remember her name, but it was the girl that ended up having surgery to remove
her colon.

Maybe one of the old timers remembers her name, and could find it to show you.

That was soccermandy who posted the pics.

Moon face is when your face swells up when you're on pred. Other refer to it as chipmunk cheeks. Normally I can see my jaw bones - when I had moon face, my face was so round and puffy (like the moon) that you couldn't see my jaw bones, check bones, etc. Yuck!
