although i am mostly vegetarian i eat fish, chicken and turkey. i hadn't eaten turkey in a long time and i ate it a few days ago and yesterday. both days i was very constipated. does turkey have this effect or is it just chance?

My husband has 3-4 nights each week the Boston Market turkey with mashed potatoes dinners. He prefers the smaller ones ($2 each in WalMart) as he does much better with smaller portions. They agree with him so it is one of those "safe meals". There is also a larger one with stuffing and vegetables but he still prefers the smaller one.
Doesn't seem to bother him with constipation at all.

Last year I went from a total veg diet (17 years!) to a fish/chicken diet in order to try and help my undiagnosed UC, now I find small amounts of chicken and turkey to be pretty well-tolerated.

not for me. Protein takes a bit longer to digest and can slow things down a bit.
I do get gas from turkey, however. Oh, turkey has tryptophan..natural sedative (seratonin)..so that might be why things are "slower".
