Have any of you tried acupuncture for UC symptoms of cramping, pain, nausea? I am thinking of trying it but really know very little about it.

I did acupuncture, and it really helped with stress and it made me relax. I thought it was really neat, but as far as it helping with my symptoms, its hard to tell because they are always up and down anyways. I would say just for the relaxation, its worth it.

Thanks DanthaMan. I think I might give it a try for that reason alone. Relaxation is important and I htink it lessens my symptoms when I'm relaxed.

I am doing it now and I can definitely tell that it helps with stress. In fact I believe my flare was triggered by stress and thus I fund acupuncture beneficial. It isn't very expensive so giving a try is a good idea. I wouldn't think of it as panacea through:(

You can look up my past posts... I have had amazing success with acupuncture.  The first time I went 4 hours before I need to go to the bathroom. That was a major accomplishment for me. I continued to go 2x - 3x week.  I went into remission, kept going and stopped when school let out for the summer. I didn't have anyone to watch my kids... and of course, I thought, "I'm in remission!".  Well within a couple of weeks the bleeding started again. I just got my kids back to school and am ready to start back up with the acupuncture.

I cannot stress this enough: MAKE SURE THE ACUPUNCTURIST IS ACTUALLY A CHINESE DOCTOR. DON'T GO TO A CHIROPRACTOR WANNA-BE.  GET SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY STUDIED THIS AND IS DEGREED! OTHERWISE YOU'RE WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

Senaid ----Yes, I would certainly go to a properly trained doc. I didn't even konw that chiropractors did this. Have you tried cupping as well? My friend swears by it.

I think my insurance covers it so I think I'll give it a try.

Thanks everyone!
