It seems like there are a lot of people talking about flare ups that have just started within the last few weeks. I was in remission until 3 weeks ago. I wonder if there is any substance to the thought that UC can be seasonal? Just curious about how everyone is handling this. After week 2 of my flare up, I called my doc and I'll be seeing him on Tuesday. Hopefully some more drugs will make things better!

My flare began last august but really kicked up in January. January seems to be the worst for me.

I'm flaring right now too- I guess it's been on & off for the past year, only remission was for a brief month or so when I first started Remicade. It does get worse before my period also.

flaring since Jan on and off........it really bites! I am on prednisone now so I think my flare is about to get it's butt kicked! (no pun intended, but I am lauging.......)

I am so tired of my bum exploding and of the poo, mucous, blood mixture that I see on the tp. TMI, I know! It looks like a Jackson Pollack painting! Maybe I could sell it and make millions....

I've been flaring since January too, Hmmm maybe there's something about January post Christmas stress?
I like the idea of artwork, Sometimes its a pretty pink colour, others taupe, today bright "cranberry" red... LOL

Both times I've flared its been in late spring. Never thought about it like that before though. Could be interesting to look into...

I've been flaring since like March 2006 and am finally down to 5mg prednisone. I stopped bleeding about 4 months ago so I finally started to taper from 20mg prednisone and of course my BM's are much looser with a little mucus on them at first and now i'm seeing tiny specs of blood. My BM's are dissapointing, but being at 5mg prednisone after being on it forever feels good. I thought I would never go back into remission, but it's happening.

I'm flaring, too, but why? I just got over a sinus infection and it is that time of the month. If those of us posting see a "link," to seasonal reasons and monthly cycles, what does the medical profession really say? I don't know that I've come across anything, yet. Does anyone have any links? Why don't our GI's know this, admit this and treat us accordingly? Sorry--I am tired of the "unknowns" we have with UC. I just want it to get better!
