Well...not sure what is going on here.  I have been on Pred. for just over a week and at first I was taking 20mg in the morning and 20mg in the afternoon.  Then 3 days ago my doctor got me to just take 40mg in the morning.  I noticed the night before last my mouth was bone dry when I woke in the middle of the night (usually I have a waterfall of drool....MMmm) then yesterday, I noticed that my face and hands were feeling really dry after my shower.  Then I was feeling slightly woozy, light headed.  Last night was the same, dry mouth, and today really dry feeling hands and kinda dazed feeling.

Now, I am drinking at least 4 liters of water a day and today I started drinking Gatorade for the electalytes ( 1 a day ) and Im peeing fine.

Anyone have any advice or opinions?

What color is your urine? If it's a dark yellow it could indicate dehydration. I'm not sure if dry mouth is a side effect of pred (never been on it), but I know they have a otc mouth rinse that you can use. It's called Oasis. You can try that to see if it helps.

You need to drink more than water. Drinking too much plain water can put you in further trouble. You need to restore your electrolytes. I'd check with a pharmacist, if one is open today, about how you restore your hydration safely, quickly, and effectively.

I got so dehydrated last time I had a major flare that I ended up in the emergency room. Don't let that happen to you!

Since I parted ways with my colon, I get hydration challenged while exercising.  I drink a beverage called Hydralye, available at www.Gookinaid.com that is superior to the commercial electrolyte beverages sold in stores.  It comes in a variety of flavors and is not so sweet.  This is the only hydrating beverage sold in the Grand Canyon, a testament to it's superior formulation.  The product was develeoped by an Olympian turned chemist.

Instead of gatoraid which is full of too much sugar, opt for pedialyte.
