so my birthday is on sept 25 ( in about two weeks) and i don't really want anything. i have very generous family and friends who have asked what i want but, seeing as they can't but me a new colon, i can't seem to think of anything i want. that said, this forum has been invaluable to me (and other people) and i would like to ask people to donate. here is my problem: i dn't want them to make checks out to healing well because i don't want them looking up this website. i like the anon feel of this site and i don't want to jepordize that by telling them the "healing well" address. any ideas? maybe the colitis foundation? i just don't know...

So you want this little treasure called Healingwell to remain a secret to your family and friends? Totally understandable but just think of what donations can do for HW! :) But if you want your friends and family to make donations other then HW you can have them make donations to www.ccfa.org I believe that it's 84 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to research and education of IBD.

Why don't you tell them there's something you really want for your b'day and not chq's but just money. Our family does it all the time we wrap the money up or put it a box inside a box inside another box. I'm sure if you tell them you want to donate it to your cause they will be more then willing and just explain that you want this to remain your safe haven if they feel it is inappropriate they can buy you whatever they want. Up to them

That's awesome you are doing that for your b-day. My best buddy and I did our son's b-days parties together this year (born on the same day). We did donations to a charity too in lieu of gifts. I think it is a great idea:)

I think you have a wonderful idea! I was just thinking about donations instead of gifts last night! My family always asks what I want for Christmas, etc. Such a conundrum as I don't really need THINGS. So, i was thinking about putting donations to the CCFA on my list.

Best wishes Katie - you're a special gal!
