I started taking 60mg of prednisone a day since 9/7 and stopped taking my lialda on 9/6.  I have been having more blood in my stools, but I go less times per day (mostly in the am a few times before I leave the house) and don't know how long it generally takes to see improvement.

I know I am probably being impatient but............

This last round of pred took about 3 weeks to kick in for me. It's hard not to be impatient. I can't wait til imuran starts doing something!!! With your other medical issues I don't know if the pred is going to take longer because it has more to work on. I don't even know if that makes sense but I wish you luck! I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Beth

I have found the more times I have had to take Pred over the years - the longer each time now takes to have any effect.  I was also diagnosed in 2000 and have been on and off it for years now.  Right now, if  I had to go back to 40mg - it would take around a month for symptoms to get better.  So, stick with it, it will happen!

Good luck

For me, pred usually makes a big difference the next day. But I guess everybody's different.

I agree with KSU everytime I take pred it takes longer to work and has gotten harder to get off of completely. It also depends on how badly you are flaring. It sounds like you have been flaring pretty bad so hang in there!
