It seems that when most people are flaring they mention that they produce a lot of gas. Why do we produce more gas when we are flaring? Is this because the colon is inflammed and can't absorb the gas into the blood stream?

Also when I'm flaring I get "gas gurgles" from my colon. I'm wondering if the location of where the gas gurgling takes place along the colon is the precise area of the colon that is inflammed?

i think it does. when i "gurgle" it is loudest in the area where the sewed my colon back together after my surgery (so it would obviously be the most inflamed in that area. i also think gas happens for the same reason some get D--everything is inflamed and trying to get out. just a guess...

When flaring, a combination of bad gut ecology and inability to digest foods properly causes increased gas. And yes, I've found painful gas, gurglings and discomfort center around the area of inflammation.
