I am of east indian descent so my parents have tried many home remedies for me.

To be honest I never posted about this before because I took it as a joke.

But It seems to be working, in helping reduce my symptoms and the inflamation.

This website even explains how.

I take maybe 3 or 4 strips of safforn boil it in water and drink the water. Dont take more becuase it can knock you out pretty much.

You can buy it at east indian grocery stores or any other store.

Everyday I try to find new natural ways to feel better.

Tomorrow I am going for a colonoscopy I am sooo scared :(

Hi Ashna,

Good luck on your colonoscopy..It can definitely tired you out. Hope you get some rest after. How has the saffron helped you. I would definitely be interested in hearing about your xperience. Let us know if you colonoscopy show decreased inflammation, then possibly the saffron is helping. Currently I use accupuncture for my arthritis(spondylitis), colitis, and monthly hormones. I have taken so many different types of herbs--chinese and Ayurvedic. However a lot of digestion herbs are warm in nature and tend to make my skin break out with Acne. Once I stop the herbs it clears. I always stop taking them after that happens. Hope to hear from you soon.

I've heard that saffron can be more expensive than gold...I've never come across it in any store myself but that's what I've heard about it and that it is hard to fine.

Glad you're having success with it, I'm a firm believer in natural healing, especially if it helps.

:)

I used it to make salmon...it comes in threads and was about 16 dollars (i think) at stop and shop in the spice section. its not alot that you get, maybe a hundred threads - thats just a guess. it is the most expensive spice supposedly.
UC diagnosed January 05

Past Meds: Azasan (Imuran) - piercing chest pains after six days so tried different brand aka Azathioprine - morning nausea /didn't really help after more than 6 months, canasa (tried but got worse at the time - connected or not laying off for now)
Current meds: Asacol 2 - 3x, Aciphex (acid reflux), Remicade - 6 treatments, prednisone boo 10mg now tapering, multivitamin, caltrate 2x a day. probiotic (florasmart right now), astelin (nasal spray) as needed, allergy shots, fosamax

Hi everyone,
A friend of mine said she found a website that sells different amounts of saffron threads at fairly reasonable prices. It's: paellapans.com.

Just thought I'd let y'all know!

Hey everyone, Just thought Id make a reply !!

SDM- Thanks so much my colonoscopy went great! Only the doc found out I have moderate to severe UC. Hey at least I have answers as to why I feel so crappy!

AshNH- Well since my case is very Moderate to Severe I think it would take a longer time to show results. I think the saffron is more to help people who are in remission!

Old Hat- Thanks you guys are all really nice. I am not feeling too good actually (If you read my chest pain forum) I now have different symptoms and side effects. Random chest pains, Stomach spasms. Its weird I’m going for a chest x-ray today! How are you feeling? Are you having a flare up? How do u respond to your meds

Sara14- Thanks hun everything went great!

redplum- Never tried Accupuncture, how does it help you? Well the saffron like I said more likely will help those who are in a mild case of UC or in remission. I am undergoing severe problems I don’t think anything is helping me.

Another UC wife- I will continue to take it and let all of you know how I am feeling. Just a side note Since certain things help people differently let me tell you my body didn’t respond well with the Aloe Vera Gel everyone talked about…..

pb4- Hahaha it depends how much you are buying! Its very easy to find! Go to any east Indian grocery store, or even Chinese grocery stores and ask for saffron! Comes in power or stick format!
We buy maybe a small bowl full of saffron powder for $7.99 its worth it!
