HI, I just got dignosed this morning after my colonospoy and wasn't to understanding of what now happens to me. What did the doctor mean by saying "you have a mild irritation of your entire colon, concerning for chronic colitis" ????

I don't want to lose my colon, how can I safe it before I lose it.

She didn't give me anything, so now what?

Hi...welcome to the forum!

Chronic colitis isn't a diagnosis for ulcerative colitis (UC). The fact that he said irritation is interesting rather than inflammation.

No meds?  It sounds as though it's not UC if you're not even on any oral 5ASA meds such as asacol.

It's great you had no polyps. When do you go back to the doc for the biopsy results (I'm assuming he took quite a few since you have visible inflammation)?

Why did you go in the first place to see the GI?

Sometimes the prep can cause some inflammation...but the doc thought chronic, so it's clearly been there for a while.  He didn't say what he suspected?

You need to make a list of some questions and get a clear diagnosis of what it is you have.  Do the research so that you're using the right terms so that you'll be more clear.

Hello Quincy :-)

The reason why I went was because my doctor scheduled me to have it done along with my mamogram and my annual physical. This past February I also had my right thyroid removed and now my body is only working with one thyroid so they checked that out too , to make sure I didn't need any medication. but it feels like my body is fighting me.

I don't know why she didn't say inflamed, but your are right, I could of irritated it with the crap I had to take to clean out my colon tongue

I don't go back untill November , and by then all the reports will be in.

Right now, I feel really good. I have normal bowels, no bleeding, my energy is up, I'm sleeping good, so I don't know. I hope I don't get my self stressed over this , once all this sinks in. I just want to keep a healthy as possible colon, they can take out colon when I'm in my 80's tongue

Hi...wow, surgery to remove part of your thyroid..did you have a cyst? Are you up for sharing?

Regarding your colon, it seems that it's nothing serious considering the choice of words the doc used. "chronic", however, is what I would want cleared up and why he used that word compared with what he saw.

The fact that you have no other symptoms regarding bms or gut symptoms is a good thing.

Do, however, make a list of questions. Make sure that you get a copy of the report, a photocopy, not what your doc says it means. That's your baseline report for future reference. I'm sure if anything is abnormally going on, the doc will get you in sooner.

Seems you can take a sigh of relief. I don't know much about thyroid, but recently another member asked the connection, and it seems that some autoimmune thyroid disease issues can trigger bowel inflammation. Don't exactly know how...but interesting none-the-less. Another question to ask the doc.

Oh, how old are you? Just interested because of the urge for you to have a c-scope.

Good morning :-)

Now you know a women doesn't tell her age nono tongue   but I am older then 21 and younger then 50 tongue

I went to the doctor because I thought I had an infection in my throat from a cold, but when the doctor took a look at me he sent me to an ear nose and throat doctor and that doctor said that my right thyroid bursted and I needed emergency surgery to remove it. He tryed only to take the infected part out, but when they opened me up he saw that it was the whole rightside so for health reasons he removed it. but he said that my left side was fine and could handle both and I didn't need any thyroid medication. I was fine for one month(march) and then in April, I felt my body changing and couldn't explain why.

So maybe your right, it could be from my thyroid having all these new unusual problems in my body now.

I would be interested to find out if the bowel disease, (inflamation) could be related.
