All I can say is she is awesome!  I'm so glad that someone on here referred me to her.  It was worth the 40 min. drive to find a GI that not only listened to me but seems very knowledgeable about UC and specifically around UC and pregnancy.  We are going to start trying for baby #2 in Feb., so I knew I needed to switch GIs before then.  So glad I did.  I go in for my first colonscopy in Jan. so I will need lots of encouragement when the time comes.

Just had to say, if you don't think your GI is good, SWITCH.  Keep looking and even if it means driving farther it is worth it.  She even gave me her e-mail address and said that she likes to "micromanage" her patiens.  What a change from my old one who I was lucky if he returned my calls.  There are good GI docs out there that know about UC and how to treat it.  Keep looking!

Good for you!

I just switched Doc's too :-)   See my new one on Monday.

The old one was an ARSE. He had never heard of Lialda. Anytime I asked him a question, he'd just shrug his shoulder and say. I don't know...try it. I'm a big believer in Karma...he'll get his......

Hey, *Jen*, that's great news!!!!!!! Glad you were able to join UM's patient roster; sometimes it's really hard to get a foot in the door. She sounds like just the kind of IBD subspecialist you need. I also think it's commendable that she's not rushing you right to colonoscopy-- giving you more time to recuperate from most recent flare. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 X 3 Colazal daily for July flare in descending colon; should be back in remission soon)

P.S. You can read more about Uma Mahadevan on this Website under "Officers": WecareinIBD.com   --not all the biographies have been updated but hers seems to be, at least thru 2005 activities. / Old Hat

Dr. mahadevan spoke in Chicago in march at the CCFA symposium. She was great! i learned so much about UC and pregnancy. You are very lucky to be seeing her, i could really tell she cared about her work and her patients.
