I was reading up more about Traveller's Diarrhea since my husband and I are going to India in December, and having IBD makes you even more susceptible to traveller's diarrhea. I ran across this product called Travelan, that claims to help prevent traveller's diarrhea related to e-coli infection. Here's the URL: http://www.travelan.com.au/. Apparently the majority of traveller's diarrhea is caused by e-coli.
I also read that travelan is in clinical trials to see if there is any beneficial effect for ulcerative colitis patients. Another thing to add to my list of questions to ask our GI to see if it's safe to try. Anyone heard of, or used travelan? If this product really works, it will make it so much easier for folks with IBD to travel to places like India and South America.
