I've been pretty desperate these last few weeks to get my UC under control.  It hadn't been this bad since 3 years ago when I was first diagnosed.  Anyhow, I came across some literature on probiotics and one that caught my attention was this probiotic yeast: S. boulardii.  I found the actual paper of a pilot trial study done that looks very promising (a majority improved and many went into remission, it appears): http://www.florastor.com/client_images/2003_guslandi_a_pilot_trial.pdf

It seems hard to find this in even health food stores, but online looks like the answer.  I'm eager to try this and for only a week or so I've been trying several different types of probiotics.  I've read that it good to have several different types of probiotics, each being effective in different ways.  Also to gradually increase, because it may temporarily worsen symptoms when the bad bacteria die off, because of a T-cell reaction.  It looked like VSL#3 was another good one.

Any thoughts on this?
