Remicade facility charge

I am about to switch my insurance and so far I am down to two options, both cover remicade infusions but one has 20% facility charge copay. Price difference between the two is $50 dollars monthly.

Do you know what a typical facility charge is? As far as I understand nurse has to stay with you at all times, is that right?

Just trying to be practical, any info is highly appreciated! Thanks.

Gosh, I've never heard of a "facility" charge. And, there are nurses on charge at all times at my infusion center. Good luck with the decision....I know I wasn't much help!

My co-pay for the facility is also 20%, which works out to be about $75 each time. That's for the hospital where the Remicade is administered. There are usually several nurses in the room during the infusion but there are a number of other patients there. They will keep close tabs on you.

I had to pay my deductable 300 but then it is just the specialist copay $40 in my case. There is no facility charge. My infusions are actually given in a back room at my doctors office. Nothing fancy some large recliners with infusion pumps and a tv.

I think I'll just go with 50 dollars a month difference, good thing I can switch in 6 months. Thanks!

I would suggest you call and find out what the "facility charge" is. Medical bills are so hard to read, when I have my remicade at my GIs office it's about $5000, at the hospital it's $8,000. As to how much of that is a "facility charge", who knows? But it would be a shame to pay several hundred dollars per treatment just to save $600 per year.
