Hello everyone, I posted something a while back on cramps, but still have another question about them...I figured I would get more responses if I started a new post...My question is, do any of you have cramps even when you're not flaring...I would think the answer would be "yes", but wasnt for sure...I feel perfectly fine, except right after eating...I get some pretty intense cramps that last maybe 15-30 seconds, then I feel fine again...I'm not flaring now and was just wondering why this happens? I feel sure I'm not the only one...I usually just try to ignore it, but finally decided to see what kind of responses I could get on HW...

I don't usually get cramps when I'm not flaring. But it would also depend what you call not flaring. Does this happen everytime you eat? Or is it just after big meals. I know I have problems when I eat a big meal. I try to stick to several small meals. After a big one i am just in pain for like an hour.

Where are these cramps? are they higher, near the ribcage? or lower? One side or another?

Sorry to throw a bunch of questions at you but it may help to know a little more...

I get random cramping while in remission. Sort of like walking along, minding my own business, and then bam a cramp hits that makes me falter. It usually only lasts a few second which I'm grateful. I don't get cramps after I eat though. Now, in the mornings when I get the urge to go I cramp.

kb5, It doesn't happen every time I eat...I guess it does happen more with bigger meals...But even with just eating a hambuger, it happens (Maybe I shouldn't be eating hamburgers!) ...I don't really consider that a big meal though...Anyway, most of the time, the cramps start on the left side under my ribcage then tend to move all over the middle part of my abdomen (I guess in the location of just a normal stomach ache)...They usually start out real mild for a couple of seconds and then get more painful...Sometimes a BM follows, sometimes not...I was just curious why it happens when I don't have any other symptoms of a flare...Usually when I'm flaring I have blood, mucus, and frequency...No "D"...Never have had "D" unless I have a stomach flu or something, but of course, that's rare...Thank goodness!!!! Thanks for your help..

It might be worthwhile to keep a food journal and see if there's any pattern to your cramping. Perhaps certain foods are setting you off. Your body may be trying to tell you something.
