Anyone know or hear if there is supposed to be any difference in outcomes between the two OTHER than # you have to take?  I have no problem taking pills, or remembering.

For years ASACOL has been pricey.  My Dr. offered me the opportunity to switch at my last appointment and I stayed with Asacol.  My thought is that with competition ASACOL should be less expensive in the near future.

Hi, I have been on Asacol since late 1998. I don't think Asacol is too expenseve. Without any insurance I only pay $77 for 1 month supply of 360 pills. I live in upstate New York. Where do you live, and what does Asacol cost by you?

Wow I may have to move to new york!.

In illinois 360 pills without insurance costs over 400 bucks. I can get it from canada for 147.

Wouldn't it be nice if they came out with a generic instead of another expensive form of the same thing?

I am not sure when that will be, but Asacol will lose protection at some point then have the opportunity to go generic.  I think a drug has 15 years when it hits the market or something like that to be protected.

kb5, where in Illinois do you live? I am from Chicago(the city, not burbs) and moved to NY in 2003. I have gotten my Asacol from 3 places here in NY and all have been under $80.00. Once I meet my $500/ded from my ins, it's free, no copay. I have seen people posting about how expensive Asacol is, and I just never understood how much they were paying. Some are paying a lot.
