hi everyone, new to this forum. diagnosed with UC last oct 2006. hospitalized for 3 and half weeks. was sysmtom free until feb 2007, started to get blood and mucous on stool. however still formed stools and no real change in bowel movements. i took a break in between jobs in july this year for six weeks (sept, last month) and was sysmtom free-ish, the odd bit of blood.

however now, when i started my new job, my symtoms appeared once again minus the mucous, jus blood on the stool and toilet paper, sometimes enough blood to blot the toilet paper. 2-3 (4 rarely) movements a day, normal formed stool.

not so sure what to do, i've eat healthly, drink plenty of water. i take my meds without fail.

any advice out there? or whether or not flare ups last this long? i only had really had 5 months sysmtom free since diagnosed!

Cheers!

Hey and Welcome! What meds are you on? It does sound like you are flaring. Blood for me usually indicates a flare (though I typically have mucous as well). Glad to have you here...there is a ton of info and great posts on this site.

Could it be hemorrhoids? If you've not had a big change in stools and they're still formed... no pain or cramping...?

Sorry to tell you this, but I've been in a flare for about 2 years.  I've tried EVERYTHING and my gut won't quiet.  BUT that is not the norm.
