Hello everyone.  I'm new to allof this, and I am trying to learn all that I can. I just found this site tonight, and already have read alot of good info.  However i havent' seen anything yet on what i was searching for. ...

My brother has U.C( he also has rosacea)...  he is trying to find out if  any of the meds he may be takingfor the U.C. may cause you to get fever blisters? , or if it's caused by having U.C.

they don't get realy bad( sorta like a small  round scab on his lip) but he gets them alot. has anyone else heard of this happening?  or can someone point me in the right direction to finding a answer fro him. thank you all very much.!!

Cold sores (same as fever blisters) are caused by a virus (herpes). Once you have them it's forever, they do have different meds to help keep them under control, he should talke with his doctor.

thank yall for the comments.. I know what fever blisters are.. but I guess let me ask the question again, in a different way. Does anyone else have this problem, and what have you done about it? When he is off his meds for the U.C. he doesn't get a fever blister.. but when he takes the meds... seems like he gets them so easy and it takes forever for them to heal.
As far as him asking his doctor... he is incarcerated.. so the medical system there is a joke... I'm just trying to do anything that I can to help find out something on this for him, in hopes that I can come across something that might help. thanks ahead of time for any advice or pointers anyone might have.

I do seem to get them in bouts.  And I started noticing them more after starting my 6mp regimen.  We will see if remi will also cause an increase.  Defiinetly something to ask the doctor about.  I also second the abreva!

love  to all

What medication is he on that may be causing this? Does he take a steroid? If so, steroids lowers the resistance to virus/infections which can be causing him to blister out.

thank you Bob... as we kept wondering if he was the only one going through this.

and Sherry...<shrug> I'm not sure the names of the meds( but we are in the process of trying to find out the names of them) sure would help if we knew LOL... I do know that they sometimes put him on predazone(sp) when he has a really bad flare up.  Just wanted to say thanks again.. for being accepting of my post. <smile>
