Dear all,
I was prescribed Prevpac (lansoprazole, amoxicillin & clarithromycin) for the H. pylori they found in my stomach. I've had 2 days of the drugs and I'm begining to get diarreah. I'm afraid it may get worse (I had a similar problem when I was prescribed clindomycin by a dentist and had a C. difficile invasion and I was bedridden for 6 weeks). I've been taking Flora-Q bacillius mix in the mornings and yogurt in the evening hoping to reduce the effect of the antibiotics but I don't feel they are helping much. Has anyone had a similar experience? I don't want to wait too long as I did with the clindomycin mishap, before I call the GI and tell him I need help. Also, I'm in the middle of classes and I'm not sure how I will be able to handle an increase in the diarreah. Any advice or encouragement would help.

Hi..Is the flora-Q mix capsules that are enteric coated?
How often are you taking the antibiotics?
How long do you need to take the antibiotics?

You could probably take some imodium in the mornings to get you through the least if I were in your situation I would.

I can understand your fears regarding the c.diff situation. You should, however, call your doctor tomorrow to enquire what you can/should do.

I find that I can't take any kind of amoxicillin, and will always ask the doctor for a different antibiotic. Different ones affect different people, but I thing amox. is a common culprit.

Left-sided UC diagnosed 2001.  Taking Colazal and Imuran, Remicade infusions and moving into remission. Finally off steroids after four years!
Now in remission for almost two years. Remicade has been my wonder drug.
