okay so what you are saying is that they suppress the immune system-

so would my doctor not want to try that because I have already gotten a staffinfections ( they think) in my leg twice -  they could not get it to grow in a culture.

They infection disease doctor that I have ( is also on the board at the hospital I go to - the only reason I got him is because he is friends with my primary doc) -  said that there is a rare thing that goes with UC that causes infections in the leg.

I am just afraid that if I jump from Lialada to Remicade - I wont have anything left

AND NO doc did not call me back.

I'm not sure if your doc would prescribe this or not. To me the answer would be no because of if you are already prone to these infections then starting an immune suppressor would only make matters worse. But on the other hand, if nothing else is working for you Uc wise then it might be able to help you also. So you are basically in a catch 22 - darned if you do and darned if you don't. Why would you jump from Lialda to Remicade? Usually docs prescribe either Imuran or 6mp before starting on Remicade because Remi is even more "hardcore" then Imuran and 6mp.

I kinda wonder if he should tryp upping my dose of Lialda (?) and the canasa - he said that we could do another kind that would go farther up inside that way,

I am having a heck of a time with canasa - becouse after I do that I think I need to go to the bathroom.

I talk to myself way to MUCH!

My GI wanted to jump over imuran straight to remicade. His reasoning was that it works faster than imuran. He also believes that it is a better drug even though its newer. Because of insurance i had to go on imuran and am still waiting for it to kick in (symptoms are slowing getting worse again)

Where in your colon is your Uc (sorry if stated this in another post)? The other med he is referring to is either Rowasa enema or Colocort or possibly even the Cortifoam. This will reach higher into the colon then the suppository. The enemas are hard to retain at first too, maybe more so then the suppository but once the inflammation is down then it would be easier to hold all night. Since you haven't tried these yet, I would recommend you give these a go before resorting to the immune suppressing drugs. If your inflammation is limited to the rectum at the moment then Cortifoam should be easier to keep in but this is a steroid and is not meant to be a maintenance medication.

Thanks Sherry - I have been trying them, I think that I start telling myself after I use it that I think I ..........


I even tried using them in the middle of the night.
