Hi I am currently reducing my prednisolone dose which was 40mg's when I first started and is now down to 25mg's. Anyway I was just wondering if when lowering there dose let's say from 30mg's to 25mg's. For a few days afterwards do you get pains in your stomach because when lowering my dose I haven't had loose stools but I have had slight pains in my stomach and a feeling of needing to go to the toilet but not being able to. I just wanted to know whether this was normal. Thankyou.

Lilacmagic - Welcome to HealingWell!

Yes, when tapering predisone, I would have a day or two that were "off" after a taper down.

I was steroid dependent, so my process was a little different. From 40mg to 20 mg, I would taper by 5mg every week. From 20mg to 0mg, I would taper by 2.5mg every week or two - depending on symptoms.

:)
