My UC has been pretty good these past few months. I only seem to have problems when I eat red meat. I stayed away from it for 4 weeks but yesterday I gave in and had a cheeseburger. A really weird thing happened about 6 hours later. First my temperature plummetted. I was sitting next to an electric heater and shivering with the cold. Then about 2 hours later my temperature suddenly jumped up. I was sweating really bad for another 2 hours, had a headache and pains in nearly all my bones. That lasted for about 2 hours as well and then things went back to normal. I'm ok today, just a bit weak from the episode. I had no gastro problems. Some gas and mucus this morning as per usual and then a pretty solid BM.

Is this some sort of allergic reaction? It really freaked me out I have to say especially the temperature diferences. I guess it cld be unrealted to UC. I've also just start some Psyllium Husks fibre supplements but I cant see how these would cause such a reaction.

Any comments or advice would be great

That's surely a strange reaction to a cheeseburger! Did you do anything else differently?

How are you feeling today?

You are telling me!! No the only thing that has changed in my diet in the last 2 months was 2 times I introduced red meat and both times I got strange reactions - the first was gastro related, the second was the reaction I described above.

I also started taking a fibre supplement on the day of the reaction but from what I've read it wouldn't cause something like this.

I spoke to my chiropractor about this and she suggested it might have been a panic attack. Now I did panic a bit when I started feeling off in case it meant a full blown flare but again I didn't believe a panic attack would cause temperature fluctuations and pains in bones.

Was a bit weak the following day but fully back to normal withine 24 hours.

Mega - weird!
