I know that my latest trauma has caused me to start flaring again.  And so far the only symptom I have is bleeding (with a little pain upon going) and for anyone who cares - the constipation is not a problem for me anymore  :-)   But I was thinking, how common is it to only bleed with no other symptoms?  I have had bleeding problems only for the past several years - maybe with sporadic bouts of other typical Uc symptoms but that's far and few in between.  Blood has always been the consistant factor with my flares though.

That is usually my first symptom in my digestive tract that I am going into a flare up. As time goes on, I begin to have other symptoms such as pain and diarrhea. Usually I can tell before the blood shows up that I am going into a flare because I get joint pain and canker sores. Hope things clear up soon.

Prior to my current flare which is the worst I have ever had, mostly it would be blood mixed in my bm's and a couple more bm's here and there and every now and then a pressure, not even a cramp really.

miss those days!

My first symptom is usually bleeding.  I'll start being more tired than usual - and then the bleeding comes - before anything else.  Honestly - I prefer the bleeding to the cramping.  It's scary to see that much blood - but at least I'm not passing out when I go to the bathroom.

Yeah, it's disconcerting to say the least. I haven't seen any blood in a while because of 6mp so it was a bit of a shocker to see it actually dripping in the toilet again. Even though I just KNEW it was going to happen after my trauma ordeal. Luckily I see my GI on Tuesday so I might have to go on something stronger then the suppositories to get the bleeding back under control.

The lower the inflammation (meaning, no higher)..the less symptoms you'll have/notice.

So, if you are very inflamed in the lower rectum, not higher, and it's friable (fragile/easily broken down), you'll have bleeding.

Constipation is also a symptom of lower rectum inflammation.

So, if you have Canasa..start them.

bleeding without UC symptoms can be a sign of other things, like internal hemorrhoids.

yes, it could be internal hemorrhoids (if you have them) or a fissure.

I've been using Canasa every night and it seems to control the bleeding but not all of it. I know I'm a bit raw in there since I can feel every little movement and it feels like most the inflammation is near my sigmoid at the moment. But then again, pain travels in there so who knows? If I had a fissure, would it feel different then the "normal" pain?

A fissure feels different.  When my fissure reopens - it feels like my skin is tearing.  And the pain when going is like a burning against the open sore.  If that's what you have a little hydrocortisone cream makes it go away in a few days unless it is a really bad one.

I typically start with bleeding only and some minor discomfort in my lower abdomen.  I usually only get to the D if I let it go too long.
Current Medications:
- Asacol (4 pills, 2x per day)
- Rowasa (1 enema daily, as needed)
- Folic Acid (1 mg, 1x per day)
- Calcium (600 mg, 2x per day)
- Prenatal Vitamin (1x per day)

Hmmm I don't think I have a fissure then because it doesn't burn. It's like a sharp shooting pain level to my pubic bone but a bit higher and on the left side. It only happens when I go and I only have sporadic pain thru out the day - nothing bad just annoying. I think I'm going to make a list to take to my GI this time around because boy oh boy I have a lot to tell him and ask him!

I'm the same way. I usually start seeing blood early on, sometimes that's all, but most of the time I start getting achy joints before I start flaring. Which makes me feel down considering this morning I could hardly walk the dog because my knees and hips and back hurt so bad. I hope I just slept wrong...
