My flare ups are daily and can't sit straight because my butt hurts and I have lost significant weight in the last 2 years that I was diagnosed with Colitis.

My doctor things I just need to gain weight cuz I am too thin.

So far all I am on is Cortifoam at night and Salofalk during the day.

I have cut caffeine and milk and my diet because that seems to not help.

I would normally start fine in the morning, and as the day progressed, pain starts .

I can deal with the blood in my stool, but cannot stand the rectal pain.

HELP ME.......Don't know what to do.....

Hi..welcome to the forum!

How long have you been on the rectal meds? Where in the colon is yr UC..limited or throughout?

You could ask your doctor for a prescription of dicyclomine which is an antispasmodic. It will help ease some of the rectal cramping and pain (tenesmus).

I would suggest you change to the Salofalk enemas at night and the foam during the day.

Curious..what is it that you do eat during the day?

Ady

I am a longtime UC person. However, it was only last year that I got my first bout of severe rectal pain. I was in tears daily.

I used the rectal enemas, everything and still it was so painful.
Here is what helped me (it took a few weeks). First of all, I soaked in the hot tub as much as possible for at least twenties minutes at a time. My doc suggested I get ivory soap and just roll it around in my hand as the water is coming into the tub and make the water gray. Then I would lay back and left my knees. it relieved the pain temporarily.
I starting taking Collace Stool Softener daily....one in the morning and two after dinner. I also started taking Metamucil, two tablest twice daily, and a probiotic. It took about two or three weeks for the pain to ease and then another three weeks for it to go away completely. I also used Desitin baby wipes and patted instead of wiping. It was a very painful ordeal. I wish you well.
