I've never heard of this. Is it administered in an enema?

its a local anesthetic (numbing medication), I guess it would take the pain away. If you use to much it can have nasty side effects.works by blocking the nerve signals in your body. if you absorb to much it can cause uneven heartbeat, seizures, coma, or respitory failure.

synthroid .088 mg, lowpressor 50 mg x 2, cozaar 25mg x2, imdur 30 mg
nitroquick, proventol, plavix 75 mg, protonix 40 mg x 2, asacal 400mg x 9
carafate 1 gm x 4, zyrtec 10 mg, rhinocort aqua nose spray, fish oil,

I finished a two month prescription for xylocaine enemas about a month ago. Before starting the xylocaine, I had bad cramps, lots of bleeding and urgency. Salofalk and entocort enemas were not working. By the end of my 2 month prescription of xylocaine I still had a bit of cramping, but no urgency or bleeding. I tried Salofalk enemas again at the end of the xylocaine prescription to maintain remission, but I started bleeding the next day. I stopped the salofalk and the bleeding stopped as well. It's been almost a month now and unfortunately I started bleeding a bit this week (too much sugar on a trip to Montreal last weekend). I started entocort nightly and it stopped the bleeding.
I hope the xylocaine works for you and that your insurance covers it. Mine won't pay for it - my 2 month supply cost about $700.

How long is your prescription for?

Keep us posted on how you do with the treatment.
