It has been ONE year Today that Hailey has been better. She gets stronger and stronger everyday. She still is not on any medication. I give her Natures Way Primadophilus Reuteri probiotics , Forvia and a Viactiv calcium chew daily.

She has already been sick once this year with a cold .... and her bowels have been great even with the cold. Her body is getting stronger everyday.

For all the new readers you can read her story under my signature. She was facing colon surgery. Now she is doing great!

This is great news and from reading your letter it sounds like she had a bacteria of some sort that the Omnicef shot helped with. I too believe, a bacteria form could be the cause of my problems. Thank you for posting, it encourages me to continue my fight to find a healing for me.

Thank you for all the wonder thoughts, I appreciate it :)

I give her Viactiv calcium chews for the vitamin D and calcium. Her doctor said that 50% of people with Uc has a defiency in Vitamin D. If you google "Vitamin D and calcium and colitis" it will bring up lots of articles about how people with colitis benefit from taking Vitamin D.

Some other news is that tonight when Hailey was getting her PJ's on I noticed she has small white blisters on her legs! My husband said it looks like Chicken Poxs! I am kinda nervous because none of my kids have had them yet. They all have had vaccines for the chicken poxs so I guess I'll wait and see what happens. Hailey said she feels okay, just that her spots itch...

Any  advice  on how to control the itching?

 Thanks!

Oh no! Not the chicken pox! How itchy!

Calamine lotion and baths with baking soda are what I used. But that was many years ago - well over 20 years ago!!! And the vaccine wasn't around then... Supposedly it's supposed to make the cases that children get less severe!

I hope the itching stops soon!

Thank you Dakotagirl for the great advice. I gave Hailey a bath with baking soda and put some anti-itch cream on her tonight. I hope she sleeps well tonight, she did have the vaccine and she only has about 15 spots on her body . So I hope she gets over this soon. I will call the doctor tommorrow I just still worry about her immune system.

My neice had the chicken pox recently even after having the vaccine and her case was so mild that she only broke out with a few spots. It barely even itched for her. Now when my kids were little, the vaccine was created yet and when they got theirs - oh boy did they get it! The spots covered them from head to toe. So hopefully, Hailey's will go away quickly.

And I'm so glad to hear of her continued good health. That's awesome!

Sherry,

 Thank you :)

Hailey seems good this morning. No more spots have appeared. She said they do itch but only a little bit. I just got off the phone with her doctors office , she said her doctor will call me back when she gets in the office around 9:30. So, we'll see.
