Hey guys, I was wondering of any of you on immunosuppressive drusgs have/had this problem. I have been on Aza for about 7-8 mos now. My liver enzymes looked good last month. But thursday I noticed my poo was a very light color. I thought I would wait till after the weekend to inform my doc in case it goes back to normal. So far, its the same. I no that is one of the side effects on the drugs that indicates to call doctor if it occurs. Have any of you had this problem and had to get off the drug? Or still having this problem and staying on the drug? I am feeling so well and I don't want to be taken off because of my liver. I actually thought I was in the clear after this long. Any thoughts would be so appreciated.

Thanks,

Donna

I have forest green, orangy yellow, almost black, pretty much every color, I never know what I am going to get, though I just started Azathioprine a couple weeks ago, and I had those problems before then. sorry if this does not really help.

When I'm in really bad flare, I've had every color from white through brick red to green. When my disease is under better control, no. Probably should call your doctor, as this could mean a problem with your gall bladder or liver.

I agree that maybe you should call your doc to be on the safe side. I don't have any pale colored stool and I'm on 6mp. The only time I get the pale color is when I'm flaring and I get a lot of acidic "backwash?" from my gall bladder.

Okay I know this is completely different scenario but my son (2) had oatmeal colored poop at one point last year. We took him (and the poop!) to the ped. and it was a stomach bug. I guess that is one way it can show up.

If you are concerned I would definitely put in a call to the nurse.

Hi..could be diet change, but it's best to let your doc know.
How light is light?

Thanks for responses guys.

Quincy, its a very light tan color. Its been going on since Thursday. I am going to call the doc tomorrow. I am wondering if its the Aza, because it says on the side effects insert to call the Dr. if you have pale stool. I have been reading that it could be gall bladder or liver. The thing is, my bm's are actually normal looking at the moment(except for the color) and no pain. I am finally in remission and I'm just hoping I'm not taken off the Aza.

Thanks

Donna

Let us know what he suggests to you. It's difficult isn't it when one aspect goes well...another puts the kibosh on it.

Have you been tested for celiac disease? A pale, foul-smelling stool is one of the symptoms.

 Princesa,

I did just have a Celiac test recently and I don't have it. What's really weird, is that its really normal looking except for the color, and it doesn't smell abnormal, its smells like roses:). I actually feel better than I have in sometime. I'm pretty nervous. I have a bad feeling about this.

thanks,

Donna
