We watched the funniest show for the first time (wasn't meant to be I believe).  Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel is fascinating.  Tonight was Viet Nam.  Some of what they prepared:

Snake

Scorpion

Whole Sparrow - bones, head and all

Huge Snails

Banana Flowers

Fried Silk Worms

Fertile Eggs

Eels

Also plain old Beef Soup

A really enjoyably odd show - I wonder how much UC exists in VietNam?

Love and humour to all here

Ha ha, Bob! I've seen that show before, but couldn't actually make it through the whole thing due to some of the food choices! It makes me wonder....if they heard what we eat, what would they think? :-) Hee hee. Glad that you and your sweetie enjoyed it! :-)

Sounds like some of those things could just walk (or slither) right out the "back door"....maybe that's just what IBDers need????

You'd be surprised how easy it is to eat unusual stuff when out in the field for long periods of time :-) Garden worms are a popular source of Amino acids in the British Army.

hey Bob, I have seen that show a few times and yes it is crazy the stuff that man eats, and yes some of it is still moving when he puts it in his mouth, I wonder how he keeps from getting really sick. He ate raw rotten eggs of some sort on there one night and almost lost it. and spoiled meat from somewhere else, that cant be good for a person. and we are the ones who get UC go figure.

When I was in the hospital a few weeks ago a nurse came in and saw me watching a food show on TV, she laughed at me and told me that most of her GI patients enjoy watching food shows. I really never watched/enjoyed food shows before I got sick.

Bizarre foods is okay but the show that comes on after it is awesome (No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain), he is hysterical.

I like experimenting with unusual foods but I think I would pass on the whole sparrow!
