Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I have been on the forum.  I have been feeling pretty good most days.  Occassionaly I get the extreme fatigue, pain and diarrhea.  The past few weeks though I have had constipation which is really really strange for me since being diagnosed in 2005?  Today which is probably stupid I went to Starbuck and ordered a decaffinated pumpkin spice cappucino with cream-Grande and a pumpkin cheese muffin.  OH MY GOD!  I have been nauseas (want to vomit), bloated with cramps and have ran to the bathroom with profuse diarrhea.  I went to lunch and walked to the mall to get some air and had to run to a store to go to the bathroom.  Is this a bad sign?  I know this was stupid of me to try.  Needless to say I am done with Starbucks for a long while.  Help!

Hi Stacy! I'm sorry to see you back here - if you know what I mean! Boy does that sound sooooo good too, I'm just sorry it is messing with you :( How soon after did you start getting symptoms? I would say that the constipation could've been your body's signal that something was going hinky in there. Also too, have sporadic bouts of D could've been the clue too that you are starting to flare. Obviously your body didn't like the cappucino/muffin mix and it should be out of your system soon but I bet you're in the beginning of a flare and you should place a call to your doc. Do you have IBS too?

Still keeping up w/ your meds? I am also curious about the IBS part. I have IBS and certain things can cause me to run to the bathroom right after I eat it. Hate you are feeling bad. Definitely worth a call to the GI. For the constipation (which I battle occasionally)..I take a fiber supplement, add high fiber foods and drink tons of water. Keep us posted.

Sugar, caffeine, dairy and gluten... lots to cause problems there. I have problems when I do too many "forbidden foods" at one time. Hope you feel better soon!

Ooooo, ugh....poor you!!
Now..even the thought of Starbucks has me nauseated and wanting to puke...lol!

princesea calls them forbidden...I call them high in caffeine, fat, lactose and probably fibre...but that combo could give any inflamed or irritated, "fragile" gut nausea, bloating and diarrhea.

You could also have ingested a "bug" be it viral or bacterial and it was coincidentally at the same time...so double or triple assult.

If you were already in a state of early flaring (constipation is a symptom if low in the rectum), it's possible the extra action will set it into a more obvious state.

If it lasts more than 2 days continually, start the rectal meds. Are you on them for maintenance anyway? if so, increase them. Actually, the constipation ... if it was continual....should have been your first heads-up that a flare was pending.

In any event, I hope you survive the assult of Starbuck's.

Oh...do add probiotics to your intake....seriously...asap to get things a bit more balanced from having the diarrhea just in case it was something more as well...regardless, you should be on them anyway.

Keep us posted as to how you're doing.

Oh, by the way Stacy..it's good to see you eyes tongue

Thanks everyone!  It's funny UC Firefighter I do feel like I am a walking zombie still today.  I feel so awful and really pushing this morning. Dragged myself into work and I just want to sleep.  The fatigue, weakness and nausea is really awful today.  Looks like I will be laying low a few days. Quincy I do have canasa which I only take when I have symptoms. As for IBS my GI did mention last year he does think I have it but didn't reallys tress anything about it.  Looks like I won't be eating a few days either. I too have sworn off Starbucks!  I don't know what I would do without you guys when I am down and out.  No one not even family or doctors seem to understand how awful this disease really is.  I hope I occassionally do the same for others in helping them feel better even if for a short time.

Thanks so much again.

Stacy

Oh, I can't imagine life w/o Starbucks! However, I do find that if I drink much more than a "tall" beverage, the same will happen to me. Maybe it's too much of a good thing? If it's IBS, it could just be ONE of the ingredients - maybe the cream, maybe the cheese, maybe the pumpkin.

I hope you're feeling better!

Thanks everyone.  I did take a sick day and rested all weekend.  It totally zapped me of my energy.  That is awful when you can't even open a jar.  I am feeling better today but weary.  Thanks again.

seems coincidence....and that you may be flaring after all....if any other symptoms continue, you know what to do.

I do think that we just have crappy days with no reason behind it (flaring)except that our bodies are just tired and need more rest. I can relate to days like that...I call them slug days.

Keep us posted.

Thanks Quincy!  I agree but there is a big difference between a bad day and that totally lethargic feeling you get when you feel completely like dead weight.  The only way I can handle that is to rest a few days and avoid all stress.  You are always a great help!

Stacy...we have no choice sometimes but to just "be". If you have the opportunity..go with it.

Hope this doesn't last too long.

Thank you for the sentiments...it helps me to know it happens to others as well.

oh man, I love starbucks but even w/decaf coffee, it can kill my stomach, I think all the acidity does it. Plus if you are not used to eating all the sugars etc. I think it can make your stomach and everything upset. I call it McDonalds stomach, the one time a year I eat it, I end up on the can feeling like I just sucked a troth of grease down.

Also, thank you b/c i was thinking of getting some coffee this weekend and now I wont b/c I know it will not agree w/my stomach and I don't need that!

Hope you feel better soon!!!
