Hi! I'm new to this site. So hello to everyone. I was wondering if you all would be able to shed some insight to a question i have.  I was dx'd with UC when I was 15/16 after long bout of being sick. I was fine until I was 20/21 I got really sick..I mean really sick. At that time my doc and I were considering surgery, but last minute went a different direction, but still landed me in the hospital for a good month. WhenI was dc'd I was given azsulfadine, predinsone folic acid, iron, and 6-MP. I'm now 35 and don't take any meds,I haven't had a flare up since then. Is it possible to remissions to last this long, or was there a chance i was misdiagnosed?

My doctor told me it is possible to go into a permanent remission. It happens for some people, that is great you are able to stay in remission. Keep it up.

Long remisions are very possible. You ususally don't hear about them because when people feel better they tend not to post as much here. My longset remission was just over 5 years but i hope to someday have one as long as you! I do think you should enjoy it and congrats!

Hi...I've read and heard from my doctor that it happens, but it could also be that you were misdiagnosed...but probably not.    How long were you on the meds after you left the hospital?

When was your last colonoscopy? If you do have UC, you'll have some evidence of past inflammation healing characteristic of UC.

It's awesome to hear you're doing well....I hope it continues!!!
