OH.... MY.....GOSH....  Guys....

I've been in Montana for just over a week now and was doing fine when I first got here. For the last 4 or 5 days though, I have had incredible liquipoopie..... I only go in the morning and it's purely water mostly.... I did have lunch at my neighbors house and drank some of their well water, which they drink and are fine... I just don't understand how I could have eaten anything to cause this. I have coooked all my meals here, not eaten out at all, I drink bottled water and I'm just a little concerned.

One thing I was thinking is that when I spent the night in Idaho at the horse hotel/bed and breakfast plave, I left my enema's out in my truck overnight and it got down to below freezing that night. Could that have changed the properties of the medication enough to cause this??

I'm going to call my GI as soon as their office opens in CA.... Other than the Liquipoopie, I don't have any nausea or cramping, just totally watery poo...

I'm stumped.. Or, could it just be a bug??? Gosh... I hate this....

Susie,

It might just be your body adjusting to the different water, but whatever it is I hope it passes real soon.

Take care.

I hope you're right Dave, I just had another incident and didn't even make it to the bathroom on time... GROOOOOOOSSSSSSS!!!!!! I swear, it'a almost comical, I feel FINE, other than the liquipoopie and some grumbling in the gut.... So weird.. Now I can relate to all the stories I have read here about having to go and not making it to the bathroom on time... I am an official member of THAT club now... lol... Drinking lots of BOTTLED water now to prevent dehydration....

I knew someone with this (in person) who would do blind studies with her husband with CO (Colorado) and bottled water. Whenever she had CO water she'd go into a flare. Even just a glass of it.
Hope it doesn't get worse on you.
dx 4/05 with pancolitis UC after birth of my second child... meds worked randomly
SCD and vit e enema remission for 18 months and had another drug free baby 10/06
Let flare get out of control and even steroids wouldn't work 7/07 - docs wanted surgery
lialda x4 daily and started remicade 10/26/07

Hi Susie....Are you not on any oral 5ASA meds anymore? Can you get a script of Asacol? If yes...start on them if you can.

It could be the extra minerals in the water that's causing the liquipoopie (love the term)...but it could also be the storm after the calm that the inflammation is starting. ARe you still on the Rowasa and the Canasa?

If it is a bug of some kind...I would strongly suggest to increase the culturelle twice daily. You're not using the chew tabs are you? Have you started to use any artificial sweeteners? it's in chewing gum as well.

Keep us posted....this is all you need at this time..sigh!

Hey Q and everyone!

No, I'm not on any Oral 5ASA's at this time, never have been actually. I did talk to my GI today (I just LOVE HIM) and he said if I'm not better by Thursday, he wants me to consult with a GI here in Montana and arrange for another poopie scope.. UGH.. But, I did make an appointment with a local Dr. here in Seeley Lake for tomorrow at 10:30, and they had me take a poopie sample... (that was fun)... Now I have to bring it with me to my appt and they will send it off to rule out any sort of bacterial or parasitic thing.. If they rule that out, and I don't get better by Thursday, then I'll have to bite the bullet and have another scope to see what's going on in there. He did say that he wants to wait until Thursday before putting me on any oral meds or steroids.. I can deal with that since I'm not feeling that bad really except for the faucet that my butt has become. I did forget to bring my Culturelle with me, but I also went by the pharmacy and got something called.. what the heck is it.. I have to run downstairs and get it... OK, Natures Blend? It only has 25 million per dose but you can take up to 8 per day. They did order me some Culturelle but I won't get that until Wednesday but at least I have this to start taking now. I am still on the Rowasa every night and not so much the Canasa because I've been doing pretty good up till now. I am hoping it's just a flu bug or something, but it's strange that I've had it for 5 days now and no nausea or anything else... OH... well I did have a bit of nausea last night, but I drank a cherry pepsi and had a cheese quesadilla for dinner... (I KNOW.... DUMB).. but I have been able to eat cheese more since taking the culturelle.

OK, so for the diet changes I've made, I went to the market and got some rice, cottage cheese and some canned chicken. (This little market has a HORRIBLE meat counter and it's gross when you see the sell by date has passed by like a week!) I cooked the rice, mixed in the cottage cheese and a little of the chicken and it tasted pretty good actually and I ate a pretty good portion of it. Seems to agree with me so far so I'll be eating that until things get better one way or the other.

Well, that's my update for now, had a little bit of a BM this evening, it wasn't liquid, but very "squishy" and hard to get out.. Hope that makes a good sample for testing cause that's the best I could do.. LOL....

Oh Q, I forgot to add, I don't use artificial sweetners, they are like poison as far as I'm concerned, and if I'm going to have something sweet, I want the real thing!

The stool sample test is the best way to go. I'm not getting the steroids possibility...you've never been on them have you???

If it's all clear regarding digestive invaders (flu is respiratory)...maybe the doc will consider an oral 5ASA instead of steroids...although the steroid butt meds might be another choice for you if the Rowasa isn't doing its job....since you do have CD.

Meat counter with products expired past a week????? WILMA...that must be where they got that turkey leg you ate..ugh!

Keep us updated...

Hey Q,

I think what he meant is that he wold try the 5ASA's first and then if that didn't work, he'd try the steroids at that point. And he wants to wait until after my dr. appointment to see what my poopie sample shows... He's such a good doctor and I would actually be pretty bummed if I ended up staying here and couldn't find another one in comarison to him. I have never been on Steroids before and hopefully will never have to be on them after seeing all the side effects that can afflict people.

Ya, can you believe that?? A meat counter with meat in there YESTERDAY with a sell by date of 11/03/07... AND, it was CHICKEN... GROSS... Gosh, you know, I bet you're right about that turkey leg!!!!!! LOLOLOL..... It's sad to say about our little market but the meat counter is the only bad part from what I can see, everything else is fine... I think if I get better, I'll apply for a job there as a butcher and clean the place up! For now, I drive into Missoula which is about an hour from here to buy all my meat and do my major shopping sprees..

I'll let you know what the dr says today.... Wish me luck and solid poopies!!!!! LOL

What adventures you are having already!!!

When my MIL is out of town, she'll only drink bottled water! She (no colon issues) has problems with "new" waters.

Hope things are firming up!

When I first got DX my GI at the time asked me a list of questions, like what kind of gum I chewed and if I had recently drank well water so obviously those 2 things (the only ones I can really remember anymore) can cause D and such, which is why he asked...to help rule out any other possible causes, then he did the colonoscopy right after and it was very apparent that my troubles were due to crohns disease.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)
