I'm considering a low impact yoga exercise routine .  Any suggestions or warnings to be considered?  Does anyone else do yoga?

I do yoga and have done it for years. My initial diagnosis was IBS, so I started yoga as a way to control my stress levels. Once I made the move to a new GI and got the UC diagnosis, I just continued with the yoga because it was such great stress relief. Right now, I do a prenatal yoga class... but before I was pregnant, I did a regular yoga class, and I intend to go back after my son is born. I absolutely love it! The classes relax me, and yoga can be great for your abdominal muscles. I find I am even able to do yoga while in a flare-up... whereas I could never do high impact exercise in a flare-up due to my stomach pain.
Current Medications:
- Asacol (4 pills, 2x per day)
- Rowasa (1 enema daily, as needed)
- Folic Acid (1 mg, 1x per day)
- Calcium (600 mg, 2x per day)
- Prenatal Vitamin (1x per day)

Yoga is good for reducing stress & increasing flexibility. I would recommend checking out the Iyengar method because he is very concerned about helping people who already have health problems. There are instructional books + DVDs available that would enable you to try some basic positions at home, unless you can enroll in a conveniently-located class. Borders is one chain I know that stocks his stuff in their "Fitness" section. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily; seem to be back in remission)
