Hey doors12 did you end up trying the garlic experiment and if so, did it have any affect on your UC?

Dx:  2006

Meds:  None so far. Garlic works to ease flares. My GI laughed when I told him and said it was just coincidence.

Diet:  Regular fresh garlic, Biobest yogurt daily, Omega 3 supplements, very limited junk food, carbs and processed food, low fat diet.  Lots of fresh fruit and veggies (limited potatoes).

Added: tumeric and probiotics.

I haven't tried it yet -

What type of garlic do you use and how do you use it?

TIA

I just crush fresh garlic into my salad dressing (one clove per serving).  I read somewhere that garlic supplements may not have the same effect as fresh due to the chemical changes in the allicin.

Here are a few links for info.  I also have a family history of heart disease so I am hoping garlic will help with that health issue too.

Bought some fresh garlic and I'm going to try and figure out some ways to eat it. I have 2 garlic cookbooks. I'm going to try and start slowly and hopefully document any changes as I proceed to see if there was a benefit and/or changes.
