Hi Everyone -- in addition to computer problems which I think are finally resolved I can finally type and post.

I did post after our Aruba vacation late Oct.  I had a 4 day trip to Tampa shortly after that and we just got back from Kanas City MO on Monday.  That was our Garth Brooks trip and we went to 4 shows.  Hubby did amazingly well.  Needed a nap during the afternoon in prep for the concert shows.  He didn't stand nearly as long as all the crazy fans did but had a great time.  Eating and bathroom stuff taken care of before leaving for the concert and he never needed the Men's room for a "sitting spell".

His bathroom trips are not so spontaneous anymore which does allow him to do these type of things.  We eat sensibly, smaller portions and make sure there is sufficient time for a bathroom trip before going out and then we are good to go.

When we are out and  need to eat out needing a bathroom is unavoidable.  He usually needs 10 minutes and then is fine.

Since this must be a remission of some degree we seem to have a way at the moment to keep it at bay and not flare.

On a scale of 1-10 probably an 8.  Still needs the pain meds, down to 7 1/2 mg of prednisone and this tapering this time seems to be going ok.

His face is a mess though.  It was the prednisone before that did it when he was not on the Imuran. Maybe it still is..but it really broke out when he went from the 75 mg to 150 mg on the Imuran.

Back to Mayo Clinic on Monday the 19th - follow up - I wonder if the Dr can prescribe something to clear that up.  I know the anti biotics are not good but this needs some attention too as it is affecting other areas as well - ears, upper neck area.

I kind of pulled my back a little earlier today so I can't sit long.  I will get caught back up with some of the posts and replying as soon as I can.

(Thanksgiving in another week..............geez where does the time go??)

Two steps forward, a half-a-step back. You are making progress, and we have to keep our eyes on the prize.

Sounds like you and hubby have been having oodles of fun of late. Lots to be thankful this Thanksgiving!

Sounds like you're having a great time! So glad that hubby is doing well.

about that evil acne. Have he tried anything with salysilic (sp?) acid? I think you can now get a body wash that would help the back. Or check out Clinique's men's products. A topical approach would be preferable to more pills...

I hope the well feelings continue on!

Thanks - I will look into that - he has a special cream that is super expensive Noritate (?) from the dermatologist that was prescribed in conjunction with the antibiotic initially a year ago when it first broke out.  Twice he went on the anti biotics and it cleared it up.  Now that he is just using the cream and Neutrogena cleansing foam wash....NOTHING.  Obviously the anti biotic is what clears it up and not the cream.  However it is short lived and comes back so what's the sense using anti biotics that can cause a bigger problem with the UC and good bacteria.

I was hoping it was the prednisone but I think the 150 mg of imuran has really set it off.  I don't want to sound vain at all - he has always had such a nice complexion and he has this flushed pimply look and it is a bit disheartening for him.  A 61 year old teen ager now...lol.

Again for those not familiar with his story and the agony and hell he was in for over a year like so many who are in that boat now.............I am giving the updates not to gloat but to hopefully give you all some hope too.

In March, Apr and May in particular you could have gone in there and ripped that colon out of him and he wouldn't have care.  The trial and error aspect of this illness or whatever you want to call this to find what helps and works for each individual is so frustrating.  The not knowing when you do feel well and can function when will it act up again is nerve wracking too.

I truly hope many of you here can have some kind of nice Thanksgiving.
