Yesterday, I went online to refill one of Gma's prescriptions (her doctors have an online refill webpage).  It was typed out (obviously), dosage, and that I needed it in a written prescription because I send hers out to Medco because of her Medicare.  So I go to the pharmacy to pick up her Vicodin (which can't be sent to Medco) and they had her prescription from what I filled out online and it wasn't even the right stuff.  So I thought, hmm ok someone wasn't paying attention.

Then I went to the pharmacy again today to pick up my prescription of hydrocortisone enemas that the nurse was supposed to call in today.  I get there and the clerk is looking around because I told her it was going to be a big bag.  She whips out this little bag so I ask her what prescription is that.  She said it was hemmeroid suppositories that my doctors office called in.  Ok, I may have a lot of things wrong with me but hemmies aren't one of them nor do I see how hemmeroid suppositories could even help me!  Good thing I still have some left.

What are the chances of this happening for two different people on two different days?? I think some of the people working at the doctors offices have a bad case of holidayitis!

Okay that's a little bit scary! I think this is a good reminder to always read your prescription labels!!! Speaking of Gma..how is she doing?

Fabulous! Her infections are still there, but we just keep catching them and treating with antibiotics. But overall she is doing great :)

I'm not surprised AT ALL!!! What did they say to you Sherry when you said they filled them incorrectly?

Happy to hear your gma is doing as well as she can be considering all she's dealing with. That's good news.

It was late last night that I went to go pick up my prescription so I couldn't call the docs office because they were closed. But I am going to call them on Monday and see what their excuse is. The nurse I talked to wasn't my GI's normal nurse since him and his nurses were out. She had to page him and talk to him over the phone to get me the directions for the hydrocortisone enemas. The nurse obviously messed up.  The pharmacy confirmed for me that the mess up was on their end not theirs.

But may have to call today because last night I looked at the expiration date of the enemas that I had from before and they expired in Sept. Do you think they will be safe to use? I tried one last night anyway and I don't feel as if it harmed anything because I have no side effects. Expired meds just lose their effectiveness over time right?

I've always believed that the expiration dates are probably an estimation. If you've kept the enemas at room temp, they are likely fine. I would not be surprised if they print Sept, when they know it's really more like Jan. They need to cover their a**es...

Which is a funny when you think about what medicine it is! :)
