It depends on how much you take, how often and if you're used to taking larger dosages or not.
Vitamin C comes in powder, crystals, tablets, effervescent wafers, capsules and whatever else that I can't think of. Do read the ingredients as to whether there are artificial sweeteners in them.
Apparently, Ester C is the easiest to digest, but I get stomach discomfort and weird pains in my throat from them....it was before I was diagnosed with reflux..but I haven't tried them since.
As for fending off colds at the very first suggestion...I use Cold FX and some echinacea (swiss brand drops). Seems to help, although I can't prove that I wouldn't have gotten anyway.
I wish we would have Zicam in Canada....but there is a Sisu zinc throat spray that works awesomely for my husband. For me..yuck. The taste sucks.
