I'm not sure if you guys have heard about the development of this drug or not, but it's new news to me. It seems fairly interesting. The drug is some kind of semi-synthetic anti-inflammatory drug derived from a chinese botanical. I don't know how promising this is but at least we know there are some companies out their attempting to develop new treatments/cures. When I return to my office on Monday, I might give these folks a call in London to discuss this drug with them. If I find out anything interesting, I'll post it here.

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Hutchison China Meditech Ltd said its Hutchison MediPharma unit plans to start a phase IIb trial of HMPL-004, its anti-inflammatory drug candidate, after receiving approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.
The company said the tests will be conducted on patients with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis, a form of inflammatory bowel disease.
Separately, Hutchison China Meditech said HMPL-004 is in phase II clinical trial in the US for Crohn's disease, and expects to report the results by late next year.
