Ate a bit too much herb stuffing + cranberry/cointreau sauce, but avoided pumpkin pie entirely because the ginger in it is really what does me in D-wise. Trixy, are you a vegan? Or did you just give up meat/poultry because of UC flare? / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Sounds like you all did pretty good! I'm back to liquid poo again, with just a touch of blood. I woke up about 4 times last night to go to the bathroom, but the good news is there were no cramps involved. I've gone 3 times since I woke up this morning and nothing since. Keeping my fingers crossed. I have another Chiropractic appointment today so I'm hoping that he'll get to the root of it all and my D will stop again.

Old Hat - I am trying to go vegan, but it is hard so if I stick with a vegetarian diet with some fish, I seem to be okay. The reason behind it is two-fold.

#1 - I swell and gain weight when I eat animal protein - meats, eggs, cheeses, etc - so I wanted to switch to a vegetarian diet for that reason.

#2 - I wanted to stay away from inflammatory foods, such as meat, etc. b/c of my UC. Meat and such fall into that category, along with some veggies.

I've been doing great on this diet since May, with some relapses in July (vacation and ate a bit of meat) and in September (visited the inlaws who are also meatlovers) and a couple other times when going out with friends. Since October 1st, I haven't eaten any meat or animal protein (except Thanksgiving) and the results are astounding from a swelling and weight percpective. I'm down 18 pounds and my swelling is minimal if anything at all. However, I have been eating a lot of the nightshade veggies (tomatoes) these past 2 months, which makes me wonder if that is the cause of my flare up this time.

Sorry, probably more than you asked for.

Glad to hear everyone did okay and there were minor rumblings and D.
Best Wishes,

It was real hard for me, staring at the potato salad, maccronie pie and lasagna...I almost fell into a trance looking at all that food, but I stayed true to my diet. I was really fortunate that festivities moved to another room where they served custard and apple pie, otherwise I would not have been able to resist...no way!

Ah! It's been soooooo long since I've had custard (http://www.britishdelights.com/prod_d3a.htm), it makes me want to cry...lol

Ps.
maybe for Christmas, I'll convince my sister to use honey instead of sugar in her apple pie and rice milk instead of cows milk for the custard...hmmm.

My Thanksgiving was un-eventful, but NICE and peaceful! When I first got here, I had a case of liquipoopie that I though would NEVER go away, and I think it must have been a virus, but has taken a while to completely go away. So, my Thanksgiving meal consisted of Rice, chicken and cottage cheese, all mixed up together... Very easy on the digestion and didn't tast too bad really... Plus, I spent it with my dog and horse, and my neighbors horses... My son called me and we talked a bit, and that's about it... :)
