Hi all,
 
Sam had her colonoscopy yesterday, has a really bad flare area and we are going to try Canasa. ANyone have any thoughts on this can anyone tell me their experience with it? 
 
 
Jennifer Mom to Sam I am (14 yr old girl)
Meds
Cortifoam twice a day
35 mg Prednisone
Asacol 4 times a day @400 mg ea
6MP 1/2 tab every other day
Multi Vitamin

I was off and on Canasa for many years and I had no trouble with it at all until recently. I now am intolerant of it. But when it was working, I did great on them.

I used canasa for two years and did good, sometimes thu i would feel constipated...Sorry but had no horrible side effects....
Asacol 400 mg 12 a day
Remicade every 6 weeks
Proton ix

Use them...she needs rectal meds.  I think the retention enemas are better, but starting with the supps is better than nothing.
They can be used up to 3 times daily to get the max med dosage effect.
Keep us posted.  Kudos for the doc "finally" putting her on them...

*Heather*Status:mini flare June 23* 6asacol daily+ Salofalk (tapered every 4th night)
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~5ASA: Asacol + Salofalk enemas (increase for flares tapered to maintenance)
~Bentylol (dicyclomine) 20mg as needed
~vitamins/minerals 
~Probiotic 2 (Natural Factors Protec) + 1 (Primadophilus Reuteri) at bedtime
~Natural Factors Multi Digestive Enzymes with supper
~Ranitidine,Pariet (reflux) Effexor XR 75mg;  Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma)
~URSO for PSC (or PBC) 500mg X 2 daily (LFTs back to NORMAL!!)
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS"  worth it !!!
