Hello,
Was on Asacol twice a day and it wasnt really working so gastro stared me on a new med out called Lilada. I only have to take 4 pills one time a day with breakfast. Now it seems I havent been to the bathroom for days. I dont think this is a good side effect. From one extreme to another. Has anyone ever heard of this medicine? And if so any expericance with it. Thanks.

Hi Honeys bunny--I have been on Lialda since March 07 and have had GREAT results! I have had no side effects, other than having the urgency stop, the trips to the bathroom decreasing from 18 or more times a day to 2-4 with formed bms. Also, no more bleeding. I have had two flares, one brought on by stress/worry and the other from antibiotics after a sinus infection. I am very, very thankful for Lialda. I am allergic to the sulfa-type meds and also can't even think how I would remember to take several pills several times a day! I would suggest you to do a search for 'Lialda' and you'll find lots of posts on it and I don't recall any bad posts regarding Lialda!

Go to Lialda.com for a bit more information.  I've been on it a couple weeks now, seems to be doing more than Asacol so far.  Basically it's the same medication as Asacol (mesalamine), but a different method of being released in the colon, so it can reach further down than Asacol.

Im on it and it gets you back from flaring quickly. Whenever you going out of a flair you will run into moments of being stuffed up a bit but you should get back to normal BM's soon. Hang in there Lialda works wonders.
