Hi,
I've decided to go to my team's xmas night out tomorrow. It's a sit down meal and I'm hoping to at least last for the meal.
I'm only a week / half out of hospital and still in my flare / get tired easily.
I would just value ay opinion from any who've been in this position.
I'm still on 35mg prednisolone / 4000mg mesalasine / Calcium / omprezanole.
I imagine there will be a lot of meat on the menu (which I love) and I would love to have a couple of pints or (at worst) a couple of glasses of wine......any thoughts/advice as I've never been in this position before and don't know what effect the above will have on me at this stage?

a month ago I had to miss a friends wedding rehearsal dinner and my father in-law's 60th bday party to save myself for the wedding (it was all on the same weekend) it was a little bit of a tough time at the wedding but I was glad I went. I was very cautious and had taken immodium and had gotten a room to stay over and have a private bathroom and I ate the dinner it was chicken and had a few drinks. The immodium bought me about 6 hours of no bm's and at that time I was going evey couple of hours during the day and nights were horrible for me.

As long as you feel well, go for it and have a good time = ) Just don't push yourself too hard.

btw, I did have about 5 vodka & cranberries

Moderation is the key. Go enjoy yourself! Just remember to be extra nice to yourself the day after if you decide to drink. I personally wouldn't try it and I avoid drinking when I'm flaring bad only because I know what it does to me the day after. Not fun! And yes, it's safe to drink while on these meds as long as you don't overdo it - don't want to tax the liver anymore then necessary.

Alcohols ok with the meds unless you are on an immunosuppressant.. its more a deal where can you and your colon handle it.. I drink frequently.. It helps me escape..
