Im getting depressed.  I had a BAD flare over the summer and was hospitalized for a week.  After dealing with that flare for several months I have been great for 3 months.  Now I have been bleeding for 3 weeks.  No other symptoms but blood in BM.  Ive been using colocort, switched to rowassa last night.  Blood in bm this morning.  Guess I better call the dr.  I dont want to go back on steroids.  Ive had UC for 16 yrs and not had major trouble until this year.  Why now??  UGH.

It might be because of the stress of the holidays, and we over-do it this time of year. I am flaring right now, not sure if it's that or the colonoscopy I just had. Do you do yoga or something for stress? Try to stay as calm as you can. I would see my doc, but I have already told him I will NEVER take Prednisone again. Can you go back on the colocort? I hope you improve.

I am not on a special diet...Maybe I need to increase my zoloft. I will try the rowassa a couple more days and see if it helps..the colocort didnt seem to help at all. Maybe it wont get any worse than some bleeding..I am gun shy with the huge flare this summer, I know all flares aret that bad...

Lori, what about steriod enemas? They really helped me out, I did the hydrocortisone ones and those I think are a lot less than taking prednisone.

Hope you are better soon. I know how scary it is, this flare is taking me a long time to get through and all my other ones were over pretty quickly.

Lori...use the Rowasa for at least a few weeks...nightly....I don't think you need to do them twice a day for now. Sometimes you can do too much and that can cause some symptoms.
You can always increase or maybe do an extra one every 3 days or so.

How much asacol are you on?
Hang tough.....you're not flaring too badly....patience...although it's difficult when you were in such a bad state before.  Do you have lots of refills on the Rowasa?  Call the doc to make sure you do to get you through the next few months so that you don't have to stop cold turkey.
