I have been trying to get off prednisone for almost 1 1/2 years.  Every time I have gotten down to a low dose, I get nauseous and sick and sometimes start bleeding again etc.  Well, I have worked myself back down to 7mg and I am just hesitate to go any lower but I think that many people have a hard time getting off.  Should I try again?  Is there a chance that it will work this time?  Is this how prednisone works........just hard to get off?  I use to go haywire at 10mg but now it is 5mg or lower.  Just looking for some advice from those that have heard from others or from those that had a hard time tapering like me.  By the way, they want to do surgery because I they say that I am steriod dependent.

thanks

Hi,
here's a link to an alternative doctor's webpage that describes how to get off of steroids. I sort of followed this (in particular high fat and no carbs) and had a relatively easy time weaning from steroids.
Good luck.
