Hello all,
i remember reading in a post a month or maybe a couple months back that somebody had acne appear around thier chin and mouth after getting off pred after being on it for an extended period of time. This person said that they went to a dermatologist and it actually ended up being a condition which i can no longer remember the name of. Sorry this is so vague!!!
anyway ever since getting off the pred i have acne around my mouth and chin and i have never had pimples in my life! so i was hoping that i could get the name of that condition once again to talk to a dermatologist about it.

Hi Winni,

Here's the latest thread about it. It's called "perioral dermatitis." Note that if you look it up online you'll see all kind of horror stories about it getting worse and being chronic. I found that mine gradually cleared up (with medicated creams) and disappeared entirely in about 2-3 months. It's been a year and it has not come back.

I'm really glad to be able to share this info because I know how much it sucks to have a mysterious facial rash! And mine hurt too. Ugh.

i had no idea that pred was the reason for that, i had a horrible time with pimples all around my chin and mouth, but they did go away, i guess it was about three months after i got off the pred for the last time! i did use alot of stuff, i tried all kinds of stuff, and basically just kept my face slathered with one kidn of acne cream or another.
