I'm sorry, I'm still learning about all these meds, etc...but what is ativan?  Is it UC related?  or for something else?  Just cause I've heard of it before & didn't speak up...  thanks!

As far as I know, it is used in hospitals to relax people and it is strong.  They used it on my Grandpa after he had an aneurism in his aorta.  He went crazy on it!  He ripped his diapers off and had to be restrained.  When we had him switched to something else, he was not like that.  My Mom was on it, and she pulled her tracheotomy right out of her throat and they had to restrain her too... she told me there were bugs on the ceiling... we had requested no Ativan for her, but, sure enough, that's what she was on!  Once she was off it she didn't act like that anymore.  I would never try that drug personally.

Ativan is in the same group of drugs as valium. It is used to calm anxiety. Most people don't have the type of reaction described above, but if two people in your family have had that reaction, you probably shouldn't take it.

This is a great site for information on drugs, herbals, etc.:

my friend needs to take that before a flight as she is very anxious and afraid to fly - it works wonders for her - that is the only time she takes it and she tolerates it just fine

you are all so awesome! I look at the lists of meds for some of you & feel so very bad for you, and at the same time I know that if I'm not careful, I could so easily take a turn for the worse myself...i've been misdiagnosed so many times & these sypmptoms have been around for so very long, it's a wonder I'm not more sick (not that having the UC spreading all over the place isn't sick too)! Example: I just woke up at 5:30 am my time after laying down for a nap at about 3pm yesterday afternoon...I'm exhausted. At least I have here 2 come to when the rest of the house is sleeping...& I'm making my bathroom runs...Luv U All!!!
