so its been 3 weeks and i've noticed a significant decline in hair loss in the shower... i find it interesting that once i switched back to cvs from kmart prescription of the generic sulfasalzine the hair loss slowed down and my hair is thicker. i hope i dont jinx it :)

Hi..it's interesting. The hair loss ceasing will be noticed somewhat, but as far as your hair being thicker ... it would only be from products you've used or temp changes/humidity or if you've had it cut, it will appear thicker/fuller.

What would be interesting is if you started back on the other meds to see if it was indeed the meds.

Don't forget that the process of hairloss and growth cycle happens long before it's noticed. You lose up to 100 daily and the whole head is replaced every 2 - 4 years.  It IS possible that the meds causing some hairloss and hair replacement has coincided.

well it has been 2 years since i was diagnosed and at the time was in a horrible flare and was on prednisone for a few months...but from everything i hear, side effects of prednisone usually happen while on the medicine.

i COULD take the k-mart prescrips again, maybe in the summer just to see what happens, but losing my hair every day in the shower REALLY messed w/ my head.

and it would mess with my mind for sure. I'm saying that the process for hair to grow is only about a half inch a month. It sometimes takes 3 months for a hair to be produced in a follicle before you'll even see it pop out from the scalp. That's after dormant stage then production then pushing out to the scalp and then seeing it...which is at least another half inch (another month). If the process of growth or shedding has been interfered with, it will take time for you to see the results.

After you wash your hair (hair wet) and you see little ones popping out from the top or around the front hairline, then you know they're growing back. Then look back at least 3 - 6 months...that's when the hairloss happened.

It's good it's stopped. Wishing you many good hair days!!!
