I'm 26 and I just had my PFO closure last Tuesday, not even a week ago, but would just like to know if there is anyone else out there who might have experienced dull chest pains several days after the procedure? My doctor had told my family the night of the procedure (since I was sedated) that I may experience some chest "irritation" for several days, whatever that means... It seems to have gotten better over the weekend but I can still feel the annoying little pains every now and then. I'm quite the worrier and sometimes I wonder if the little gadget is still "clamped" over the opening. I did ask my doctor today about the chest pains and he acted like I shouldn't be having them?? He has me taking Plavix and aspirin but he suggested that I now be on double my dosage of aspirin and also make sure it's the uncoated regular. I don't have a follow up until April 30 but I'm nervous because I'll be going on a family vacation just a few days after that! I guess I just want peace of mind that I'm supposed to be feeling the pain or irritation. Also having migraines with auras since last week, for the first time in my life! That was scary! Again, the doc says it may be related to coated aspirin not being absorbed correctly into my body. Any advice would be helpful!! Does it get better???

I didn't have mine closed thru the transcatheter method, but you will see here that others have experienced the chest sensations you are having. Seems it is somewhat common. I have never heard of aspirin being a cause of those feelings or migraines with auras tho. hmmm. I am really sorry you are having some problems, but you did just go through a procedure that was a little invasive, so your heart and body need some time to heal and adjust.
I hope you feel better soon. Sorry not much else to offer for help. I would keep in touch with your doctor and hopefully you guys can work through any remaining issues.
Good luck.
