One of my sister in laws was just diagnosed with mercer, which is a staff infection. She's also 5 months pregnant. My other sister in law has a pace maker and she is the one who has been transporting her back and forth to the doctor. She's also allowed her sister to spend the night in her home. Can mercer be passed from person to another? How much danger is my sister in law with the pace maker in?

Hello there bionca. I am not extremely familiar with this disease, but I am under the impression that it can be spread from person to person. How is your sister in laws doctor dealing with this with her pregnancy?

As for your other sister in law with the pace maker in, I do believe it is best that she call her doctor and explain the situation to him, and see his honest opinion.

I am sorry I couldn't be of much more help. I just don't want to give out false information, and since I only know a little bit about this disease, I don't feel comfortable giving you exact answers.

Hope I have helped a little, please tell us what the doctors say...for our education!

Wishing you and the family all the best!

Hi Bionca, Merca is basically MRSA which is Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus.  It is a staff skin infection and is super infectious However, I am betting if your sister in law was diagnosed with this then she was also prescribed the appropiate antibotics for it.  She will always have MRSA but it will not be active if she has been treated.  She will need to be very careful in the future though.  Here is a link on it I found.

Thank you Elisha and Tammy. I appreciate your help. I will read the link and pass it along to my sister in laws. Thanks again you guys. :-)
