I was wondering if anyon has any information on finger clubbing.  My 16 yr old son has clubbed fingers.  The doctor is running tests, but the wait is killing me.  He went to the dr with a seizure out of no where.  The nurse in the ER noticed his fingers.  They have been that way about 1.5 yrs.  I have asked the PA on a couple of occasions only to be told it was nothing.  The ER nurse explained a little and suggested a follow up with primary, which had to be done since there was no answer from ER dr as to the seizure.  No one else in the family (siblings, parents, grandparents, etc) have these fingers.  The primary dr has ordered EEG, EKG, Echocardiogram, MRI, and blood work.  We go back in a week.  Thanks for any insight.

Clubbed fingers is a symptom of disease, often of the heart or lungs which cause chronically low blood levels of oxygen. Diseases which cause malabsorption, such as cystic fibrosis or celiac disease can also cause clubbing.

Continue to follow up with your physician til all avenues have been exhausted in discovering what is causing your son's illness.   Good luck.
